Abstract

Italy and Italians in Argentina in the late nineteenth and the early twentieth century. Perspectives of Research a year after the  Bicentennial of the Independence (2010);"A text dedicated to the research and study of texts by Italian and Argentine travellers between the 19th and 20th centuries, containing memories of the peregrinations carried out in the two countries, with purely informative, cultural, economic and political aims. The article provide also interesting data on the evolution of the impressions formed in Italy of Argentina and its inhabitants, and vice versa, between the nineteenth and the first half of the twentieth century. For the sake of completeness, the research is also carried out in parallel on newspapers: both on those in Italian printed in Argentina - which allow us to observe from within the communities of emigrants present in the South American country and the type of image they had in Argentina and Italy - and on those Italians and Argentines.
