I progetti per le fortificazioni nella Sardegna moderna
The fortification walls designs in Modern Sardinia
Abstract
The text aims to reconstruct the changing dynamics that led to the creation of the Sardinian defense system between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and its reflections on the cartography of the time. The attention is focused on the new spatial planning that came out of these projects, as well as on aspects related to the design itself. The privileged object of study is therefore the territory and above all its change in reference to a "territorial problem", that of defence, precisely, considered in its historical evolution. The understanding of the territorial motivations of the past is also essential to govern and guide the choices of today, because they too are always in close connection with the existing representations.
