Il cammino di domestiche e “badanti”. Mobilità e questioni di genere
The road of maids and " caregivers ". Mobility and gender issues
Abstract
During the second half of the Twentieth Century, in the Western countries, the service sector has been the main field which facilitated the movement of women into the labor market. The high incidence of specific activities – especially the ones related to care, assistance and education - perpetuate social roles traditionally ascribed to women. Starting from an historical overview, since the second postwar period, the article will attempt to explore the women mobility in Italy and, in particular, in Sardinia relating to works of caring and domestic assistance. The text aims at analyzing either intra-regional commuter (e.g. village-city) or immigration flows which are in-creasing since the late 90’s.
