Los Calvino y México
The Calvinos and Mexico
Abstract
During a trip, which inspired Sotto il sole giaguaro, Italo Calvino got in touch with Mexico. Apart from such an episode, and the occasional, although significant, Cuban birthplace, the relationship between this Italian writer and the Hispano-American world was prolific both under a human and literary point of view. Therefore, in this article, not only we consider the relationship between the writer and the Mesoamerican world, but also the special bond – both cultural and political – which linked his father and his grandfather to Mexico.
