Frati mendicanti, confraternite e ospedali: alcuni casi in Italia centro-settentrionale tra XIV e XV secolo
Mendicant friars, confraternities, and hospitals: Some cases in Northern and Central Italy between 14th and 15th centuries
Abstract
The topic of the relationships between Mendicant Orders and hospitals has not been systematically explored despite numerous contributions that have highlighted the crucial role of the friars in spreading a charitable-assistance practice conceived as a salvific tool. This contribution aims to analyze some dynamics of this relationship through the observatory of the Servites, whose experience from the 13th to the 15th century was characterized by an expansion focused predominantly in the territories of central and northern Italy.
