Abstract
A obra Delle navigationi et viaggi (1550-1559) do diplomata, geógrafo e humanista de Treviso Giovanni Battista Ramusio (1485-1557), sendo uma compilação histórico-geográfica, oferece uma ampla seleção de textos que dizem respeito à navegação. A obra, que exaltava também os aspectos literários da escrita, dando desta forma adequado relevo à literatura de viagens, de facto evidencia na seleção textual feita pelo autor assim como na própria abordagem histórica e cultural o ponto de vista do escritor-compilador em relação à política expansionística portuguesa. Esta diferente perspectiva aparece evidente desde os primeiros textos escolhidos por Ramusio.
Delle navigationi et viaggi (1550-1559) by the Treviso diplomat, geographer and humanist Giovanni Battista Ramusio (1485-1557), being a historical-geographical compilation, offers a wide selection of texts on navigation. The work, which also exalted the literary aspects of writing, thus giving adequate prominence to travel literature, in fact shows in the textual selection made by the author, as well as in the historical and cultural approach itself, the writer-compiler's point of view in relation to Portuguese expansionist policy. This different perspective is evident from the first texts chosen by Ramusio.
