Juan Francisco Carmona, giurista e letterato. Note biografiche (secoli XVI-XVII)
Juan Francisco Carmona, jurist and scholar: Biographical notes (16th-17th centuries)
Abstract
The Cagliari-born Juan Francisco Carmona is often cited by historians and archaeologists for his manuscript Alabanças de los santos de Sardeña (1631). However he remains to date a poorly known character, with a biography mainly based on hypotheses and conjectures. The recent discovery of his testament and other documents concerning his property and his inheritance, at the State Archives of Cagliari, has provided useful data to reconstruct his family and social context and his studies.
