Archives of the kingdom and archives of the royal cities: strategies for governing, defending rights and creating identities
Abstract
This paper aims to tell the archival policy of the Crown of Aragon and the strategies used to establish and manage its archives - from the general archives of Barcelona to the archives of each kingdom, especially of the Kingdom of Sardinia, up to the archives of the royal cities, particularly Cagliari, Sassari and Villa di Chiesa -, with the purpose of governing a heterogeneous Confederation and defending the rights not only of the kings, but also of each kingdom, of the universitates and their citizens.
