Dinamiche linguistiche nella lunga età sardo-iberica
Linguistic dynamics in the long Sardinian-Iberian era
Abstract
Sardinia was in the Iberian sphere for about four centuries (1323-1720). These centuries were multilingual centuries. The Iberian Catalan and Spanish influence was not only political and institutional, but also cultural and linguistic. The two Iberian languages acted very significantly on Sardinian culture, but Sardinian not only did not disappear but elaborated its own self-consciousness. The Sardinian language was deeply influenced lexically by the two Iberian languages. This long historical age gave the 'Kingdom of Sardinia' the consciousness of being a historical and fully civilized subject
