Racism and African and Afro-descendant history in Spanish historiography: a state of the question
Abstract
As a result of the absence of interest in knowing the historical reasons of racism, Spanish historiography suffers from a general lack of enhancement of studies on Afro-Spanish history and colonial and postcolonial racism. In recent years some historiographical works have tackled these issues from a critical and Afrocentric point of view, questioning the discourse of the official history in the country and closely connected to the growing force of the anti-racist movement in Spain.
