Abstract
The 1700s marked the beginning of modern science, taking place in several places of the European geography. A privileged know-how of the “New World”, Portuguese travelling abroad, foreign people and works arriving in Portugal and well defined European epistolary channels proved to be an important income to Portugal not falling behind those 18th century modern tracks. At the same time, Portugal was still to solve old quarrels with Spain dealing with the possession of ultramarine territories. In this article, we will report the arrival, in Lisbon, of João Ângelo Brunelli. Then, through a small autobiographic manuscript, we seize some of the most distinct events in Portuguese 18th century mathematics.
