Abstract
Giuseppe Scolari is a composer forgotten by musicology that must be studied by those who are interested in the development of musical styles in Portugal in the middle of the 18th century as part of the process of Italianization of music, a phenomenon that occurred across Europe. Despite being among the important names of Italian opera, his activity in Lisbon is very little known and his music remains forgotten in the archives. The composer directed the best Portuguese musicians of his time and his reputation and acceptance by the Lisbon public was absolute.
