Visão da paisagem seiscentista portuguesa através das vedute de Pier Maria Baldi e da Relazione ufficiale de Lorenzo Magalotti.
A view of the 17th century Portuguese landscape through the vedute by Pier Maria Baldi and the Relazione ufficiale by Lorenzo Magalotti
Abstract
This article results from a research proposal that, rescuing documental sources such as Pier Maria Baldi's vedute and Lorenzo Magalotti's Relazione Ufficiale, aims to a material and immaterial recognition, alongside a diachronic inquiry, of the Portuguese landscape.
In this essay, we look at the Portuguese 17th century spatial and cultural framework, focusing upon stages of the European travel by Cosimo III of Médici (1668-1669), since his entry into Portugal through Campo Maior and his departure from Lisbon towards north, destined to Santiago de Compostela, passing through Ireland, England, Holland, Flanders and France, before the return of the prince and his entourage to Florence.
