“Scribere nomen in hoc Libro defunctorum”. Some reflections on the testamentary practice of the Diocese of Caiazzo and on its forms of memory (XIV-XVI Centuries)
Abstract
The essay aims to analyze some aspects of testamentary practice in Caiazzo in the centuries between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, through the documentary evidence of the surviving documentation, consisting in Testamenta of the fourteenth-century existing in the parchment fund of the Episcopal Archives of the diocese of Caiazzo, in the Liber defunctorumof the Cathedral Church of Caiazzo, compiled in the 16th, and in the Quaterni and Registers of the Capitolo, relating to the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries.
Il saggio si propone di analizzare alcuni aspetti della prassi testamentaria a Caiazzo nei secoli a cavallo tra il XIV e il XVII secolo, attraverso le testimonianze documentarie della documetazione superstita, consistente nei Testamenta del XIV secolo esistenti nel fondo pergamenaceo dell’Archivio vescovile della diocesi di Caiazzo, nel Liber defunctorum della Chiesa cattedrale di Caiazzo, compilato nel XVI, e nei Quaterni e Registri di contabilità del Capitolo, attinenti ai secoli XV, XVI e XVII.
