Narrative as a cohesive element of gamified tasks for the teaching of foreign languages.
Abstract
Gamification is no longer understood as a passing fad, but as a teaching strategy that has come to stay. Thus, it is time to start analysing the teaching proposals that are being carried out in order to understand the potential of gamification in teaching foreign languages. This study focuses on establishing the relationships between the components and the mechanics of gamification with the dynamic of the narrative, understood from a classical perspective. The analysis of 16 gamified teaching proposals establishes that the integration of the mechanics and components of gamification in the narrative thread can be a key criterion for evaluating the quality of gamification of the teaching sequences.
