Il culto di San Giacomo in Sardegna
The cult of St. James in Sardinia
Abstract
In the analysis of the development of the St. James’s cult in Sardinia, a special attention is dedicated to his travel from Palestine to Spain – a long-established belief still alive in Sardinia – and to the origin of the devotion to the apostle in the two main Sardinian towns, Cagliari and Sassari, as well as in eight villages (Goni, Ittireddu, Mandas Noragugume, Nughedu S. Vittoria, Orosei, Perdaxius, Soleminis), of which St. James is Patron.
