War, defense and donation in the Austrian Sardinia
Abstract
Needs of the Sardinian’s defense during the Succession’s war of the Spain’s crown motivated continues extension of the Donativo (contribution to the king), which was accorded in the last Parliament on 1699. This mechanism was initiated for the first time by Philippe of Bourbon and was maintained even by Charles of Austria and later by the Savoy Dinasty. The most relevant news in the incoming cash from the taxes and above all in the administration of the Donativo was the creation of the office called Superintendencia de la Caja Militar.
