Abstract

The supernatural world full of demons and victims painted by Dante Alighieri in his great narrative poem was as fantastic as real. The young Aridjis dreams of travelling to Florence and translating the Divine Comedy in Spanish, since the versions he was known left him, for various reasons, literally dissatisfied. Although has only partially realised his dream, Aridjis continues to believe that Western poetry of the last seven centuries is based on entirely on the work of the great Florentine poet.
