The Irish community in Rome, 1377-1870. The status quaestionis
Abstract
The study provides a bibliographic review of the Irish community in Rome from 1377 to 1870. The lightness of the corpus and the vastness of the historiography of migrations and foreign communities in Rome are the main difficulties of the project. The material is grouped in chronological order organized into three periods: the medieval period, the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, highlighting the main publications on the subject between 1377 and 1870
