Italy-Uruguay in the American Studies Centre "Circolo Amerindiano" onlus. Literature becomes denunciation

Abstract

The paper presents two areas of action of the Centro Studi in relation to Uruguayan culture: a first type of activities related to Uruguayan literature, with a discussion on the type of production that arrives in Italy and the feedback according to the type of readers and the kind of interest that raises. In particular, will be taken into consideration texts by Mauricio Rosencof translated into Italian and presented in some International Conferences of American Studies, as well as some presentations.
The second part is devoted to the intersection between Italy and Uruguay in a broader way, presenting especially the history of the Country of the second half of the Twentieth century, through the same Rosencof’s lectio magistralis at the International Congress of Americanists and a round table organized by the Library of American Studies in the Day of Remembrance of holocausts and persecutions.

Il lavoro presenta due settori di azione del Centro Studi relativamente alla cultura uruguayana: una prima tipologia di attività legate alla letteratura uruguayana, con una disamina sul tipo di produzione che arriva in Italia e sul riscontro rispetto alla tipologia di lettori e al tipo di interesse che suscita. In particolare verranno presi in considerazione i testi di Mauricio Rosencof tradotti in italiano e presentati in alcuni Convegni Internazionali di Americanistica, oltre che alcune presentazioni.
La seconda parte è dedicata all’incrocio tra Italia e Uruguay in maniera più ampia, presentando specialmente la storia del Paese della seconda metà del Novecento, attraverso la lectio magistralis dello stesso Rosencof al Convegno Internazionale di Americanistica e una tavola rotonda organizzata dalla Biblioteca di Americanistica nellʹambito della Giornata della Memoria degli Olocausti e delle persecuzioni.
