Bernard Zadi, a figure of Ivorian youth
Abstract
How many people know that Bernard Zadi Zaourou has been a victim of what is called in Côte d’Ivoire the “untrue plots of Houphouët-Boigny”? Almost nobody. That ignorance is absolutely surprising because neither Zadi’s literary creation nor his ideological views are without link with this painful experience of his life. Who was Bernard Zadi in 1964, when he was arrested? How and why a so young man has been involved in the torments of the political prison? This text tries to answer these questions.
