La Sicilia di Ferdinando de Antequera. Il caso delle universitates siciliane
The Sicily of Ferdinando de Antequera. The case of the Sicilian universities
Abstract
The events that took place in Sicily between the arrival of the Martins (1392) and the election of Ferdinando of Antequera (1412) show one hand a leading role of the Monarchy, that imposes itself as the subject controller of society and politics, and on the other as an independent political and institutional development of the Sicilian universitates. During this period the capitula – or petitions – whose producers are the universitates, are of particular importance. In this scenery city and Court meet and collide within a non-centralized state: the viceroyalty.
