Chilean political memoirs between recall of the golpe and denunciation of US interference
Abstract
Our contribution represents a first ap‐roach to some texts that appertain to the literature of political character, as we wanted to define it. The authors of these publications – that is Carlos Jorquera, Osvaldo Puccio, Raúl Silva Henríquez, Armando Uribe, Cristián Opazo, Patricia Verdugo and Max Marambio, were chilean journalists, diplomats, catholic prelates and militants of Unidad Popular. Without being professional politicians, they were acquainted witnesses of military golpe of 11th September of 1973. In our analysis, we have emphasized the interlacement between this tragic event and the USA’s interventions in Chilean politics as that emerges from the mentioned texts.
