Abstract
The article stems from the book of debits and credits of Johan Benet, citizen and merchant of Barcelona, who between 1332 and 1338 lived in Cagliari to direct the Sardinian branch of the company of his family. The llibre de deu i deg was written in Cagliari between 1334 and 1338. From there, it has been possible look at the
situation of the city in the years immediately following the Catalan-Aragonese conquest. The records, in addition to trade deals, illustrate the company with its legal and administrative representatives, taxation, religiosity, and urban lifestyle with its crafts and shops in a city so alive as lively.
L’articolo nasce dal libro di debiti e crediti di Johan Benet, cittadino e mercante di Barcellona, che tra il 1332 e il 1338 visse a Cagliari per dirigere la filiale sarda della compagnia di famiglia. Il llibre de deu i deg fu scritto a Cagliari tra il 1334 e il 1338. Da qui è stato possibile considerare la situazione della città negli anni immediatamente successivi alla conquista catalano-aragonese. Dalle registrazioni emerge, oltre ai commerci, la società con i suoi rappresentanti legali e amministrativi, la tassazione, la religiosità, lo stile di vita urbano con i suoi mestieri e le sue botteghe in una città tanto viva quanto vivace.
