History research on the Mediterranean in the Modern Age: A state of the matter?
Abstract
In the following pages, an attempt is made to analyze the lines of research in the history of the Mediterranean since the appearance of the book by Fernando Braudel. As it is impossible to mention the enormous production since the mid‐twentieth century, we have chosen a theme, such as the conquest of Tunisia by Charles V in 1535, to establish the different routes of work that have been set. We are not so interested in a complete analysis of all the published works, since our interest is centered in the analysis of the different tendencies with which this question is addressed today.
