The Hospital of Santa Maria del Gesù in Fabriano from 1456
Abstract
The Ospedale di Santa Maria del Gesù in Fabriano is rightly included among the hospital foundations that during the 15th century renewed their management apparatuses, expanded medical services and developed new forms of asset management. On a historiographical level, however, it is still necessary to outline the structure and role of that institution in the territory. This small contribution aims to briefly introduce the founding dynamics of the fabrianese hospital.
L’Ospedale di Santa Maria del Gesù di Fabriano rientra a pieno titolo tra quelle fondazioni ospedaliere che nel corso del XV secolo, nell’ambito della riforma assistenziale, rinnovarono i loro apparati direttivi, ampliarono i loro servizi medici e svilupparono nuove forme di gestione del patrimonio. A livello storiografico, manca ancora uno studio complessivo che getti luce sulla struttura ed il ruolo di questa importante opera caritativa. Questo piccolo contributo intende pertanto introdurre brevemente le dinamiche fondative dell’ente fabrianese.
