La torre di Chia (Domus de Maria‐CA). Analisi archeologica
The tower of Chia (Domus de Maria-CA). An Archaeological analysis
Abstract
The tower of Chia was built around 1592 to defend the coast area of Sardinia from the attacks of Turkish corsairs. This article presents an analysis of the structure by applying an archaeological approach. The data obtained from the autoptical examination of the masonry were compared with the ones provided by archives and historical pictures. The elements recorded and the reconsiderations of the context, in which the tower is settled, have provided new data. Consequently, they have offered the possibility of placing the changes the tower has undergone within a chronological sequence.
