A city in its laws: Cagliari from the Pisan rule to the Catalan institutions
Abstract
The essay outlines an overview of Cagliari's statutory history between the period of Pisan rule and the first phase of Catalan-Aragonese rule up to the entire 14th century. In comparison with other Italian cases and with recent historiography, the essay aims to e underlying the documentary context of Cagliari's normative sources, with special reference to the interplay between the more solemn texts and the practice of negotiation between the municipal community and the royal authority.
Il saggio delinea un quadro di sintesi della storia statutaria di Cagliari tra il periodo di dominazione pisana e la prima fase di quella catalano-aragonese fino a tutto il XIV secolo. Tenendo presente la comparazione con gli altri casi italiani e con la storiografia recente, si delineano le logiche di fondo del paesaggio documentario delle fonti normative cagliaritane, con particolare riferimento all’interazione tra i testi più solenni e il patrimonio dei documenti di negoziazione tra comunità municipale e autorità regia.
