‘Crisis of History’ and Public History
Abstract
Does public history help to overcome the ‘crisis of history’? But what is meant by ‘crisis of history’? What has changed since the 1970s, the years when the NCPH was born in the United States? The newly founded Italian Public History Association (AIPH), what specific contribution can give? What kind of history is there in the various sectors of cultural industry ? These are some of the questions I have tried to answer even from the professional experience in the field started in the mid-1980s.
