The Auctoritas in the Upper Border of al-Andalus through the study of Architecture
Abstract
The Upper Border of al-Andalus during the 9th and 10th centuries was a territory marked by fighting between social powers seeking to consolidate regional authority. There were three main actors: the muladi families, the Cordoue emirate and “the people of the city”. To reaffirm their authority, they used architecture as propaganda and as an ideological instrument.
