The Lepori collection of the municipal Historical Archive of Cagliari
Abstract
The Collection is composed by two photo albums containing 1398 photos collected and commented by Marco Lepori, employed in the ‘Genio civile’ (Office for public works). Starting in 1958, Lepori has been collecting copies of photos taken in Cagliari from the end of the 19th century and the twentieth century, documenting the evolution of customs and of the urban appearance of the city through a ‘passeggiata’ among the historical districts, the events and the personalities. The Collection, purchased by the municipality of Cagliari in 2008, has been described and the images have been digitalized in order to provide users with a valuable instrument to gain better knowledge of the city.
