Italian companies and entrepreneurs from the Central Region of Argentina in transit from the 19th to the 20th century
Abstract
The present work proposes a reflection on the Italian companies and businessmen of the central region of Argentina, since it is a subject less studied by the specialised literature. The lack is more noticeable if one tries to make a comparative study of two of the provinces ot fhe Country, as it is this case. However, a series of socio-political, economic and demographic factors give relevance to the subject in question. In the first place we must define the term “Región Centro” ("Central Region"), implemented at the end of the 20th century to designate an area composed by the provinces of Córdoba, Santa Fe and Entre Ríos, which presents a certain homogeneity in diverse factors, such as climate, soil characteristics, transport infrastructure, among others, which makes its use here operative.
