Abstract

The Edmundo De Amicis’s trip to Argentina in 1884, turned out to be the source of books with new features in his writing career and helped him raise new social concerns. The idea is to understand how he saw, thought and expressed Argentina, its people and immigrants, and how the Argentines seized him. The approach takes into account some aspects of intellectual history, according to the movement, translation and reception of their texts, and the significance of personal contacts with Argentina's political and intellectual elite of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

El viaje de Edmundo De Amicis a la Argentina en 1884, se convirtió en fuente de libros con características nuevas en su trayectoria literaria y colaboró en despertar en él nuevas preocupaciones sociales. Se busca comprender como vio, pensó y expresó a la Argentina, sus habitantes  y a los inmigrantes, y cómo los argentinos se apropiaron de él. El enfoque tiene en cuenta algunos aspectos de la historia intelectual respecto de la circulación, traducción y recepción de sus textos, además de la significación de los contactos personales con la élite intelectual y política argentina de fines del siglo XIX y comienzos de la siguiente.
