Abstract
Los inmigrantes europeos llegados a la Argentina en los siglos XIX y XX han desarrollado diversas prácticas de inserción cultural en la sociedad de destino como la gastronomía, las festividades cívicas y religiosas, las asociaciones de migrantes y los medios de comunicación. La mayoría de la prensa gráfica emitida por los grupos surgió en el período posterior a la declaración de la Independencia de 1816 y su auge data de finales del siglo XIX. El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar una breve historia de la prensa producida por las colectividades europeas que llegaron a la Argentina a fines del siglo XIX a la luz de su contexto histórico y dar cuenta de sus funciones, expectativas y alcances.
European immigrants that arrived to Argentina during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries had developed various practices of cultural integration in the society of destination like gastronomy, civic and religious festivities, migrant associations and immigrant’s newspapers. The newspapers made by migrant groups belongs to the period after the Declaration of Independence of 1816 and its boom was on the late nineteenth century. The aim of this paper is to present a brief history of the press produced by European communities who came to Argentina in the late nineteenth century and analyze this type of publication and its historical context.
