The Visconti and their politics between Tuscia and Sardinia
Abstract
This paper analyses the connection between the seizure of power in Pisa by the power group family of "Visconti maggiori" and their action of conquest in Sardinia. This theme is part of the project of the Visconti family and his consortsto activating a political strategy of international scope, of which Sardinia was only part, although an important one.In particular, the contribution highlights the historic role of the Visconti family within the dynamics of power in Pisa and their relationship contrasted with other urban elites.
L’articolo analizza il collegamento fra la presa di potere a Pisa da parte della consorteria dei “Visconti maggiori” e la loro azione di conquista in Sardegna. Questo tema si inquadra nel progetto della famiglia viscontea e della sua consorteria di attivare una strategia politica di respiro internazionale, di cui la Sardegna era solo un tassello, anche se importante. In particolare, il contributo mette in luce il ruolo storico della famiglia Visconti all’interno delle dinamiche di potere a Pisa e il loro rapporto contrastato con le altre élites cittadine.
