Italy and its “history” of the Mediterranean. Chronicles of Italian historiography of the late twentieth century
Abstract
In the first half of XX Century the Italian historians discussed the history of Mediterranean in a long perspective, from ancient times to the fascist colonial Mediterranean politics. In the second half of the same Century the ‘new’ Italian Historiography has ‘forgotten’ the Mediterranean and its history and the same Italian tradition of researches and debates on this subject. The essay focuses the reasons of this removal.
