Credit and Public Debt in the city of Tàrrega in the 15th Century
Abstract
The paper reconstructs some economic and financial aspects of Tàrrega, a Catalan city received as a manor by Isabella of Castile, as the consort of the king of Sicily and heir to the throne of Aragon Ferdinand II. The municipal documents reveal the participation of the queen and her officers in the negotiations concerning the issuance of public debt and the amortizations of the established sums.
